The Beating Continues!

“Following the Group’s win at the Ayrshire round of the SCDA One Act Play Festival 2008 with our production of “One Good Beating” by Linda McLean, SDG are now West of Scotland Champions of the competition after winning the Western Divisional Final in Stranraer - from an original total entry of 53 plays in the West !

The club is now preparing to compete in the Scottish Final in Inverness on Saturday 24 May 2008 when our production will be one of only 9 plays (from an original total of 169 entries across Scotland !) competing for the coveted title of Scottish Champions and the chance to go on to represent Scotland at the British Final in Wales.

The Eden Court Theatre, Inverness which re-opened in November 2007 following a 2 ½ year closure for a £23 million pound make-over, was the focus of the recent BBC2 documentary series “MacMusical”. The theatre website www.eden-court.co.uk  provides further information on the 850-seater venue where SDG will perform in May, recently described by musical impresario Sir Cameron Macintosh as “the biggest and best arts venue in Scotland, an astonishing facility, matched by only a handful of theatres outside of London”
